Malcolm's Place

Mixed-use and Mixed-income Low-rise

IN PROGRESS

Situated on what once was the Spencer Homes public housing project, this 4-story, mixed-use building is an integral part of a new city-led development, Kennedy Square East. Malcom's Place will include 51 mixed-income units ranging from 1-3 bedrooms, commercial space, and a community room. In addition to this mixed-use building, the development will include single-family homes, duplexes, and townhouses developed by other firms. Approximately one-third of the development's total units will serve as replacement housing for the residents displaced after the demolition of the Spencer Homes.

This new development has a strong connection—ideologically and physically—to the Highlander, another new mixed-income development in North Omaha that brought housing, health care, education and event space to the area around 30th and Lake streets. The success of the Highlander project, which LBBA was a part of, helped create a strong grant application for Kennedy Square East.
