The Foglia Residences at the Chicago Lighthouse

Mixed-Income, Supportive + Cultural TOD

COMPLETED IN 2024

The Foglia Residences at The Chicago Lighthouse is the first LIHTC building in the country for the blind. An innovative mixed-income, transit-oriented development in the heart of the Illinois Medical District, The Foglia Residences is only a short walk to the Polk Pink Line El station and major bus routes along Damen, Ashland, and Roosevelt. This transit access is especially critical for the building’s blind residents who rely on bus and train for access to jobs and resources.

The 9-story, 76-unit building is located on land donated by The Chicago Lighthouse (TCL). TCL is a nonprofit that is the largest employer of persons with visual disabilities in Illinois and provides a wide variety of services on site. Strategically positioned next to The Chicago Lighthouse’s headquarters, this development creates a seamless connection between home, work, and essential services for its future residents.
